OMT is writing today from the bottom of a big empty. We’ve got over half a dozen drafts of pieces in various states of completion, but we’re getting nowhere with them. Most of them are of reasonably interesting topics, but after one or two good paragraphs, they descend rapidly into shit.
Even [...]

I am a part of all that I have met.
Tho much is taken, much abides.
      That which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
      – Alfred Lord Tennyson
Here at OMT, we’re reeling this morning from yesterday’s news about Ted Kennedy’s inoperable brain tumor, [...]

OMT will be in Boston this week, on a business junket, hosted by one of our major vendors … Three days of being wined and dined, and, unlike the conference they held last year at this time in Sacramento, in which OMT was lucky enough (if “lucky” is the right word) to have seen California’s [...]

Well, our front yard is naked, and the tree and five shrubs are dead.
Yesterday, Carl’s Tree Service came and took out the tree and shrubs, chewed them up into mulch (except for one log from the tree, which is now drying out in our fireplace in preparation for burning next winter), ground up the roots, [...]

From the Vatican, we have learned that the Pope’s chief astronomer, Father Gabriel Funes, has said that life on Mars, indeed, all forms of alien life, cannot be ruled out.         My friends, they don’t look at me the same.

There’s nothing to say today, except that we’re not going to break a streak of daily posts that stretches back to March 30th … So, we’re just going [...]

Back on Schedule

The cancellation of our landscaping event yesterday due to bad weather (see below, “We Take That Back …”) was a terrible disappointment for us, but today we’re feeling much better about the whole thing. We just got off the phone with our tree people, and we are scheduled to have the work done this [...]

Ignore our previous post. Our landscaping project was called on account of rain.
It rained all night, and it was coming down in buckets at 7:00AM when Chris from Carl’s Tree Service called and said that we were going to have to reschedule.
We prefer it this way, actually. This is definitely the kind of [...]

Anti-Arbor Day

Well, the day of reckoning has finally arrived for the overgrown black cherry tree in our front yard. Today, rain be damned, they are coming to take out the tree and its root system, along with 5 overgrown shrubs (3 yews, an azalia, and a rhododendron almost as tall as the house).
We’d have loved [...]
